Lynn Gates
Lynn Allen Gates was born June 10, 1949 to Leo and Lillian (Haar) Gates at Aberdeen, SD. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1967. On February 18, 1967 he married his wife of forty-one years, Paulette K. Hoffman. Shortly after their marriage they moved to San Jose, California where they lived for seven years. He worked as a plumber and also in animal research. He then moved back to Aberdeen and was a plumber for 20 years. In 1984 Lynn went to work for FMC Corporation as a welder and purchasing agent. Lynn and Paulette moved to Miller in 1992 after purchasing Miller Feed Service, a Purina Feed dealership. He was active in youth rodeo, 4-H, and FFA activities in Hand and Beadle Counties. Lynn’s loves were his horses and cows, rodeos, his grandchildren and all kids. He never turned down a kid for any reason. He served on the South Dakota High School Rodeo Board of Directors and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and many other state and local organizations. Survivors include his wife Paulette; two children and their spouses, Paullyn (Blaine) Carey of Huron, Casey (Sara) Gates of Miller; seven grandchildren, Sidney, Trey, Kallie, Gracie, Tatum, Tyra and Ellie; Six brothers and sisters, Kathie (David) Murphy of Rapid City, Glenda (Jim) Kolkman of Rapid City, Harlan (Vickie) Gates of Aberdeen, Jana Fischer of Watertown, Jeff (Laurie) Gates of Watertown, and Barry (Lana) Gates of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Lillian Gates and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Lorraine Hoffman. Rembold Funeral Home of St. Lawrence has been entrusted with Lynn’s arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. |
