Chad RemboldI was born and raised in Freeman, SD graduating from Freeman High School in 1990. From 1990 to 1994, I attended South Dakota State University in Brookings where I completed my pre-mortuary science program. In 1994, I moved to Dallas, Texas to attend the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science graduating in 1995. I have worked at various funeral homes across South Dakota including Sioux Falls, Madison and Pierre. In March of 2000, I moved to Miller where I managed Reck Funeral Home until the summer of 2005. In August of 2002, I married Sherry Knittel. We had a very unique wedding ceremony on the number one tee box at the Miller Country Club. In June of 2005, after much contemplation, I moved to Rapid City to manage a new funeral home. In the fall of 2005, the owner of Reck Funeral Home, John Luce, Jr. was killed in a plane crash. My wife and I knew immediately that we wanted to return to Miller. Our attempts to purchase the funeral home in Miller were not successful, but the process of trying to get back, and the disappointment we felt after we realized we could not buy the funeral home reinforced our resolve to return. We immediately began the search for a building in Miller that would accommodate the demands of a funeral home and help me realize my dream of opening Rembold Funeral Home. When the St. Lawrence Community Church began building their new church, we began discussions to purchase the existing facility. In April of 2007, I moved into the church and began the remodeling process of making the church into a funeral home and the basement into our home. It has turned out to be a wonderful fit for both home and business. We have had a great response from the community and thank the families that have entrusted us with their loved ones final arrangements. My family includes my wife Sherry, who teaches middle school math and science at Highmore, and my son Gideon. |
